Soloist

Emily Luo is an oboist from Edmonton, Alberta. She is in her second year of her Bachelor of Music at the Glenn Gould School, studying with Sarah Jeffrey, Principal Oboe of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.

Emily began her oboe studies at the age of 13, studying with Lidia Khaner and went on to attend Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan for high school. She has performed with the National Youth Orchestra of Canada, the National Academy Orchestra of Canada, attended Orford Arts Center and Domaine Forget in Québec, and the Curtis Summerfest Young Artists Summer Program in Philadelphia where she was the recipient of the Canadian American Relations Cross-Border Scholarship.

As a soloist, Emily made her debut with the Chamber Orchestra of Edmonton in 2016. She is an alumna of the Edmonton Youth Orchestra and has placed provincially at the Kiwanis Music Festival. She is a three-time recipient of Winspear Fund Scholarship.
